In the credit industry I have the honor of working with a great many people who deserve better credit than they currently have. Some have made mistakes and others are truly victims of circumstances.
The fullness of my experience has taught me one thing regarding credit and a client’s ability to recover from the dreaded 500 credit score. Here it is, are you ready? I’m a big fan of education by you can be the most educated person on planet FICO but if you have the wrong attitude, you are destined to live in credit dungeons for a long time. Here are few tips to make sure your attitude in the game when it comes to recovering from bad credit.
1) Stop Blaming – Whether you did it to yourself, someone else did it to you or a little of both, you need to think forward. The person, bank, circumstance or whatever that contributed to your credit problems isn’t going to help you fix them. Only you can do that so get over it take action.
2) Calm Down – The best and most successful people in the world in any field are calm under pressure. They don’t get whipped up who said what or who did what until they’ve solved the problem. Whatever you have to do to shed your anger or frustration will help you with your true cause of getting back to the “A” grade on your credit report.
3) Get the Facts – There is a lot of mis-information roaming around the internet, your friends and family and your co-workers. Ask yourself this question: Is my uncle Ed really a credit expert? Why would you get your credit information from someone who’s not a credit expert? There are legitimate experts who can answer your questions and guide you on the right path of recovery and into the life that only the “good credit” humans get to experience. (Most of them don’t know how good they have it)
4) Take Action – Once you’re done blaming and stewing and you’ve decided to only listen to the right people, get moving. If you don’t take action, you’ll still have bad credit but with a better attitude. Why not have both a better attitude and a better credit rating?
